I've received the error message "The Application experience an internal error loading the SSL libraries" and it won’t open the document! What can I do?

This error is a very easy fix… use a different web browser!

Unfortunately, this stems for an error in an update in Windows Internet Explorer (IE) which won’t let your machine download the files.

From: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/office_integration__sharepoint/2015/04/20/office-2013-error-certificate-error-the-application-experienced-an-internal-error-loading-the-ssl-libraries-when-opening-files/

"There are actually four different aspects to this issue, out of the box Office 2013 only supports the default SSL settings for whatever OS Office is running on.  So for Windows 7 Office 2013 requires TLS 1.0 or SSL3 to be supported on the server.  Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 SSL3, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are supported but the RC4 cipher suite is not supported."

But! By using a different Web browser such as Chrome, Firefox or Safari, you will be able to download and view the files on your machine. Unfortunately, there is not a lot you can do to resolve this problem in IE other than keeping IE up to date. This issue will need to be fixed by Microsoft.
